Ben Mynott at the Big Chill Bar on 24 June 2009

Fresh from the release of his latest Chillout Lounge CD (which I understand to be selling very well), Ben Mynott appeared at the Big Chill Bar today as part of the long-running Fluidnation event. Ben asked me to take a few more shots of him in action (to replace these shots that are now fairly old), and I was happy to oblige. This is far from my first shoot in the Big Chill Bar (but my first since the renovation of the DJ booth) so it was a useful opportunity to play around a bit with technique.

Carole and Ed's engagement shoot

Carole and Ed are getting married soon at two very exclusive venues in town - St. Barnabas, Pimlico and Kent House, in Knightsbridge. I'm looking forward to getting some lovely snaps at these two venues.

For their engagement shoot, Carole and Ed chose their home overlooking the City Road Basin, on the outskirts of the City of London. Although plagued by technical problems on the day for some reason (Sod's law was in full effect), I was able to use the backups to my backup kit to get some fairly relaxed shots of Carole and Ed both inside and outside their flat (on their balcony with a great view across London). Baby William

Apologies for the lack of updates over the last few months (and, like buses, three come along at once).

The reason should now hopefully be clear - meet baby William. He's great (now two months old) but parenthood is as tiring and demanding as they say! It is of course a great photographic opportunity, as these shots from the last two months will hopefully testify...

Katie and Dan's engagement shoot

Katie and Dan will be getting hitched in August with their reception at the Royal Naval College in Greenwich, which I'm very much looking forward to. For their engagement shoot, we met up at next to a couple of other famous London landmarks - the Millennium Bridge and the Tate Modern gallery (within sight of St. Paul's cathedral across the river). The weather was perfect - a lovely balmy June day - and the South Bank was buzzing (that being more of an inconvenience than a benefit!).

The bright sun necessitated a more gadget-based photoshoot than usual, with some off-camera flash to mitigate the harshness of the mid-afternoon shadows. Most of the portraits were framed so as to include as many of the famous landmarks as possible - it seemed a shame to waste them! With a location like this it is of course a struggle to avoid shots that rise above the average 'holiday snap' - hopefully I pulled it off but you can judge for yourself!

Emma and Darren's wedding

You may recall Emma and Darren from their engagement shoot on Waterloo Bridge at Christmas. Their wedding took place in May in the most beautiful Royal Spa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells. The weather held, so after the ceremony in one of the hotel's elegant rooms everyone was able to enjoy a glass of Pimms by the lake in the hotel grounds. A vast amount of pollen floating around was an unexpected challenge - only by chance did our camera sensors avoid clogging up - but everyone valiantly persevered, supported as necessary in their efforts by the aforementioned glasses of Pimms.

Darren's contacts as a professional drummer allowed him to serve up one of the tightest wedding bands I've ever had the pleasure to listen to, which is just as well as many of the guests were professional musicians and no doubt demanded a high standard of music! As with all of the weddings I've had the pleasure to attend as photographer, much fun was had by all. I wish Emma and Darren all the best for the rest of their married life.
